Dr. Milgram took group think one step further and was trying to understand how and why people will obey authority figures, even when they know what they are doing is wrong.

Dr. Bandura was able to document how children learn.

This is a very important experiment as it carries over into how we behave when we are in certain environments.

Obedience to Authority

    Behavioralism Continued

We have learned about conditioning and reinforcement (both positive and negative).
Today we are going to talk about Social Learning and how our behavior is effected by our society, our friends, our family, our neighborhood and our church.

Social Learning and Behavior

Stanley Milgram

Group Think is something that we started to speak about last week.

Humans will do things to conform to others instead of excerising there own independent belief systems.

Group Think

Pick a current topic that is going on within the world, our community, your neighborhood or within your family. Then explain that topic and how you think it is occurring, using one of the 6 topics that we have learned about over our last two classes (behavior).

If you get stuck, ask your parents or another class member for input with a topic.

This assignment is to help you start thinking from a "psychological perspective".

Remember, we are not judging the person or topic that you are writing about, we are explaining it using our new knowledge on how people learn.

Please make your essay at least 2 paragraphs long.
