Introduction to Psychology

This was our first day of class. We spent some time getting to know each other. If you are new to our class. Be ready to answer the following questions:

  • Where were you born?
  • What’s your middle name?
  • Share one weird fact about yourself.
  • If you could rename yourself, what name would you choose?
  • Dogs or cats?

We learned stuff about each other that we really didn't know.

Dr. Woller's weird fact: I use hairspray to slow down the flies so I don't miss them with the fly swatter.

Afterward, we went over ourSyllabus. Just click on the link and it should pop up for you.

Next, we spoke about the difference between psychology and other mental health professionals and spoke about the many different types of psychology. In order to get us used to the types of psychology, we did a word search at the end of class.

Homework 1

We learned about the several different types of psychology today.

Medical News Today (2018), outlines different types of psychologists and what they do in the world.

Please watch the video below.

Please read the following article.

Answer the following questions in paragraph form for each type of psychology. You should have 2 paragraphs, one for each type of psychology. Remember, in order to be a good psychologist you have to learn to write your ideas instead of speaking them.

If you know of another type of psychology that you might want to learn or write about, you may research and write about it. You must cite your learning source using APA formatting and citations. (WE WILL LEARN ABOUT THIS LATER ON).

Select two types of psychology that interest you.

  •   What type of psychology did you pick and why?
  •   What does that type of psychologist do?
  •   Why did you pick that type of psychology?
  •   What types of jobs that you can have in your chosen type of psychology?
  •   What type of education do you need for this type of psychology?
  •   What is the job growth and income potential in that field of psychology?
